Biden’s Desperate COVID Overreach

Article here.

“We’ve been patient. But our patience is wearing thin, and your refusal has cost all of us,” he said, all but biting off his words. The unvaccinated minority “can cause a lot of damage, and they are.”

Buona Beef Milepost Zero

1601 19th Street, Denver

Most cities in the U.S. have a food/dish they proclaim their own. For Chicago, it’s the Italian Beef sandwich– thin-sliced roast beef dunked in gravy to soak up the flavor, then stacked on a warm Italian roll and topped with sweet peppers or Giardiniera. Now, for the first time ever, Chicago-based, family-owned restaurant group, Buona Beef has opened its first location outside of its 25 Illinois storefronts in Denver.

Movie Review

The Card Counter

IMDB Rating is 67% / Rotten Tomatoes is 87%

The film, written and directed by Paul Schrader, follows William Tell (Isaac), a gambler and former serviceman who sets out to reform a young man seeking revenge on a mutual enemy from their past. Tell just wants to play cards. His spartan existence on the casino trail is shattered when he is approached by Cirk, a vulnerable and angry young man seeking help to execute his plan for revenge on a military colonel. Tell sees a chance at redemption through his relationship with Cirk. Gaining backing from mysterious gambling financier La Linda, Tell takes Cirk with him on the road, going from casino to casino until the unlikely trio set their sights on winning the World Series of poker in Las Vegas. But keeping Cirk on the straight-and-narrow proves impossible, dragging Tell back into the darkness of his past.Variety

Oscar Isaac as William Tell
Tiffany Haddish as La Linda
Tye Sheridan as Cirk
Willem Dafoe as Gordo

John’s commentsThe movie starts slow and is a slow movie – not much action nor comedy. Not sure it needed any, not really a movie that needs it. Some things could have been explained better as it left some questions unanswered.
